PERSISTENCE OF VISION
ONE -TWO-THREE -NOTHING-ONE THOUSAND
Persistence of vision is the phenomenon of the eye by which an afterimage is thought to persist for approximately one twenty-fifth of a second on the retina.
When speed increases, the persistence of vision and the speed combines to increase the no. of images and ultimately reduce the images to nothing. The blades of fan, we can observe, is three normally but when it is rotating we can not see the blades at all.
Chakravarthith Tiurmagan while wileding His bow and arrow rotated in tremoundous speed in differnt directions. The rAkshasAs were able to see one perumAL at first.
Then, they were able to see about thousand Lords and at one point of time, they were not able to see the Lord at all but the stinging arrows were emerging from Him and demolishing the enemies.
From the Yudha kANDam slokam-s , we understand that the enemies were able to see one Lord , then thousand Lords and did not see Him at all.
Sri PeriyavAchAn piLlai mentions thus
'Intially the there was only one form of Lord visible then as the speed increased there was two and then three and there was nothing at all but the arrows originated from Him and vanquished the enemies'
Such was the power of the Lord and His speed.
What a wonderful anlaysis.
